    "You received freely, give freely”.  It drawl comes to a head at the free show portion of Medalta's Thawed Out Country and Folk Music Festival.  The morning show did not have many spectators, however it made for ideal shooting conditions.

    Kalsey Kulyk has been tearing up the country charts with her song, 'Love me like an Outlaw'.  In far from a packed house, she is seen here performing a cover song of Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' with her husband Eric Ethridge.

Cats! The Internet Sensation

    My cousin became an unwitting foster pet parent when he discovered a litter of kittens and a deceased mother cat in his garage.  There may not be much cuter than orphan kittens chasing string for the first time in their lives.  Christmas has come early this year.

Cost Analysis

 

    Two variations of the same 12X16" framed photograph.  The first is printed at home using HP photo paper.  The second is printed on metallic paper and covered with museum glass to prevent fading as metallic prints tend to do that over time.  Here is the breakdown:

The Wars of Yesteryears

     On Remembrance Day and every other, it bears consideration of  those who served to ensure our freedom during the wars of yesteryears.  It bears even more significance for those who have family who participated in the war effort.  My beloved late grandfather was one of the many who served during the Second World War.  Along with the many war stories, memories of the only grandfather I cared for come to light at this time of year.

    Let us continue to treasure the freedoms and values we have, that we might never need to fight for them again.

    Wake me up when September starts.  September seems to be the perfect month for holding music festivals here in the Hat.  Crock Stock 2022 saw a steady stream of talent come to the stage, performing for a loving audience.  Held at the Historic Medalta Potteries museum and contemporary arts centre, it proved to be a memorable day.

Together Again YXH

 

    Together Again YXH, a festival celebrating our ability to gather together and party once more, post pandemic restrictions.  54-40 returned to perform among others playing throughout the day of Saturday September 17, 2022.

    The full feature of 'Ocean Pearl', the final song of the set of 54-40's performance at the Together Again YXH festival in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  A celebration of our ability to get together and party once more outside of the  pandemic restrictions.

Royal Hotel and Bar fire

 

    Fire took down the structure of the Royal Hotel and Bar in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  One of the longest standing businesses in the city, the recently renovated bar was known for it's live music presentations.  Let's hope it is rebuilt.

    Love her or not, Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest reigning monarch served as family to a great crowd of people on earth.  She is greatly missed.

    Challenged Billy to a duel at high noon.  Looked high and low fer m' but the coward never showed.

The Remastered Mindset album release

    Featuring the last of the back catalog set for release to the music stores and streaming platforms, the Remastered Mindset is more an upbeat album that uses old school hip hop beats and rhythms to drive a younger audience.  Mastered tracks for the energized audiophiles.

Sound is Light single release

    Frequencies and wavelengths forming similar spectrums were the inspiration for this track's title.  Set to a musical score, Sound is Light forms another ambient experience this side of the Rockies.

Worldly

    In the world of tomorrow, humble beginnings meet fruition.  In the world of today, we build on history and plan for the unknown.   

    Building knowledge and sensibility into the rites, traditions offer a welcome reprieve from daily hardships.  A tradition since 1887, the annual stampede draws people from all around the county. Small town meets big time in these community building rites of passage.

    Fresh from a vacation, this year's stampede parade was shot lazily from the sidelines in a touristy fashion. Hope you enjoyed it.

Re: upcoming album 'The Remastered Mindset'

     If  you believe in the spirit world and find yourself subject to a schizophrenia spellbind, life and the ensuing struggle will be much easier to cope with given the nature of the illness.

    In my experience, at it's worst, schizophrenia can be likened to enduring Hitler's concentration camps; or, perhaps a better likeness would be the floggings of the legendary Israelites under the demonic ancient Egyptian culture.  Either way you look at it, the now mortal enemies are trying to end your life by making it so miserable you will do it yourself.

    If all things are to be revealed, what I have learned about my condition is that there are people involved in the affliction.  My demons turned out to be a family I have known since childhood, making coping with circumstances much easier.  

    Using alternative to the poisonous medications treatments, orthomolecular treatments have enabled me to function to the best of my ability coupled with the prescriptions which sedate and dull the senses.  My faith in the spirit world however, is what has lead me to the knowledge of who and why is responsible for the living hell.  Faith that God is just and that in the battle between the righteous and the wicked, the wicked fall into the pits they dig for the latter.  Faith that vengeance belongs to God who will repay.  Faith that the hope that springs eternal is more than myth.  Keeping the faith enables me to be the victor not the victim.

    Encountering many EXJW hashtag posts in my twitter feed reminds me of the absurd upbringing my siblings and I experienced.  As part of a doomsday cult, my father used to get excited at the prospect of an Armageddon coming where everything and everyone but the members would be annihilated.  Just recently I was reminded of why when I saw video posted of the Watchtower society elite talking on the passage in 1 Thessalonians 5 which reads that when a world leader mentions the words "peace and security" on the airwaves (joke), sudden destruction would come upon them as the pangs of distress upon a woman in labor. 

    

    What I came to understand by studying their Interlinear bible which shows the word for word translation of the Greek new testament, was that unlike yet another of a myriad of errors in the Watchtower society New World Translation bible saying that sudden destruction would be 'instantly' upon them; the passage reads more that sudden destruction would be 'standing' upon them as the pangs of distress upon a woman in labor.  This, coupled with the knowledge that the 'day of the Lord' will come as a thief in the night, makes them in my mind only fulfilling the scripture in Luke 21:8 which prophesies:

8 He replied:  "Watch out that you are not deceived.  For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he' (the Word) and, 'the time is near.'  Do not follow them."

    These are a few of my favorite things.  Rob Hudec performs alongside his sister Jacqueline Hudec at the Mad Hatter Coffee Roastery as part of the 2022 Medicine Hat Jazzfest.  Performance took place Thursday June 23.

    Holding to the belief that the earth is 6000 years old, some creationists draw from the scripture in 2 Peter 3:8 which states: 

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

    While this is a step up from believing each day of creation is the same as one of our own 24 hour days, I believe that one needs to take into consideration that our own seasons were given to us further into the creation process (Genesis 1:14) and that the interpretation of Peter's writings state that one day is as, not simply is 1000 years, showing that it is more a relative timeframe to our own.  Counterarguments might point out that the oldest recorded living person, apart from the ages the first man and woman before the original sin may have been, was Methuselah at 969 years old.  This would coincide with the promise that on the day the first couple sinned, they would die.

    The problem with the scientific evidence as it pertains to dinosaurs could be that the carbon dating method used to date fossils carries a half life of 5730 years meaning that anything over the 10,000 years or so is speculation.  Bring to light also that numerous discoveries of fleshy tissue and blood vessels in the leg bone fossils of some dinosaurs have been made, meaning that our science may not be complete.  Perhaps the dinosaurs were what the King James Version of the bible relays as ‘great whales’. (Genesis 1:21)

    Another theory of mine is that the dinosaurs could have been created alongside the vegetation to manage it’s growth, bringing new meaning to the passage “all flesh is as grass”.

    Slowing the beat down a smidge, LMNTooL is a break or recess from the learning environment of Academia.  Combining a photograph of the prairie with artificial intelligence in painting and throw in some shameless advertising, (hey, this needs to be profitable somehow) LMNTooL breaks down the barriers into their elements.

    Finding hard and heavy riffs in Apple's GarageBand presets is like thirsting for blood watching kittens fight.  Nevertheless, here is a scratch.

Satellite Workshop

    The soothing conclusion to the EP, Satellite Workshop explores an alien world in the confines of our own.  Roving the Martian like landscape of Red Rock Coulee, this video includes grounded drone footage; or the precursor to drone footage of the orange rocks and snow capped land surrounding them.  The song, composed by Medium Photographics, is a revisitation of the pleasantry of the opening song Academia.

Remembrance Day

    Every November 11th in the Byzantine world we remember those who have served and those who have fallen giving their lives for our sake.

    Part two of the Middle EP, the Mediocre EP belies it's name with a range of varying soundscapes.  From the deep pulsating bass of Refamer to  the quirky refute of Blasfamous, (blasphemous) (1Corinthians 2:16) the ambience of JKLMNII is summed up with the best saved for last, Phatigue.  

    As always, best enjoyed with headphones or hi-definition stereo.

Postcard Paparazzi

    Spanning the summers of 2020 and 2021, Postcard Paparazzi is a celebration of design coming to downtown Medicine Hat in the form of business fronts and established architecture along with the many artistic murals popping up around the district. 

    After the initial shoot, I felt compelled to meet my par for shots taken walking the dog around the blocks of the core of the city.  Golden hour was my solution to capturing the beauty of downtown outside the hustle and bustle of the daytime.

Prayer Reflection

    What does it mean to pray in Jesus name?  We learn from reading John 14:13 that whatever we ask in Jesus name, this He will do that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  Looking at the first Christian martyr Stephen, we see the connection between a true Christian who held a relationship with the Son as it was meant to be.  

    Although the apostles went about healing people and performing miracles stated as "in Jesus name", when Stephen was being stoned, he had a vision of Christ standing next to the Father and he addressed his prayer in Jesus name directly to Him.  Where one translation of the bible totally botches this meaning by replacing God's title Lord with the Father of creation's name everywhere it is not, all others show the truth of this faith.

    When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.  But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, "Look!  I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"

    Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him.  And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.  And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."  Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin."  And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

    If you have ever called on God in a crushed spirit, or in desperation, it is easy to relate to this way of praying.
